This is the last blog in our series discussing the craze surrounding Patti LaBelle’s Sweet Potato Pies. In this blog, we will discuss points five and six of the six secrets for any entrepreneur looking to create a successful viral video.
The first five points come from Clint Arthur, founder of Celebrity Launchpad. He suggests that entrepreneurs looking to book television news or talk shows should include in their pitch to producers the following components: 1) the “hook,” 2) the celebrity tie-in, 3) props, 4) appropriate costume, and 5) the take away. We recommend using these same five factors when creating a youtube or marketing video, with the addition of a sixth point, endorsement by an un-biased third party.
Below, we have outlined points five and six of the six secrets for any entrepreneur looking to create a successful viral video and applied it to Mr. Wright’s youtube video about Patti LaBelle’s Sweet Potato Pies.
5) Take Away
Arthur notes that you should not forget to include a take away in your pitch.
Applying this to Mr. Wright’s video, we clearly hear him verbalize the take away at the end of the video. Mr. Wright loves Patti’s pies and urges everyone to go and buy them. He states “go to Walmart and buy Patti Labelle’s Pies…you’ll turn into Patti after eating this.”
6) Endorsement By Un-Biased Third Party
For our last tip, we suggest including an un-biased third party endorser. In an age where customers check Yelp before they even set foot in a restaurant, an unbiased review holds a lot of weight. Unbiased reviews are so powerful they have the ability to ensure the success or destruction of a company.
In Patti’s case, an unbiased review by Mr. Wright ensured the success of her sweet potato pies. Patti had never met Mr. Wright before he made the video. In fact, Mr. Wright created the youtube video to share with his friends and family to tell them how amazing Patti’s pies were.
Thus, when seeking to create a winning viral video for your company’s product or brand, don’t underestimate the power of an unbiased customer review. Additionally, the video should include a “hook,” a celebrity tie-in, props, appropriate costume, and a take away. By following this six-point secret plan, you too can launch a successful viral video campaign for your product.
